Trend Alert: Crate Ideas!

The re-use of old materials has been an on-going trend, but more and more we're seeing inventive ways to re-purpose salvaged wood in an art form referred to as "Pallet Craft".

Check out these inspiring designs that people have created using old shipping pallets.
What an affordable, resourceful and eco-friendly way to create functional furnishings!

Another great re-use idea

Just saw this image on Pinterest. (love pinterest!)
How clever is this??
Making new window screens out of vintage, lace curtains!

You could even group them and display them in a gallery wall arrangement. I love the idea of giving these vintage designs a modern shape and entirely new appeal!

Trend Alert: Idea in a Bottle

We've always admired those who find renewed beauty in old things. We've recently been inspired by the inventive ways lighting designers have re-purposed old wine bottles to create one-of-a-kind chandeliers.
Aren't these gorgeous? I love the way the light is diffused by the rich, green bottle glass, and how the labels start to tell a story of memorable past events.

Many Napa restaurants have embraced this trend.
Here you can see the chandeliers featured beneath the archways in the portico of Rotisserie and Wine.

Pizza Azzuro put a contemporary/vintage spin on the idea with their clear wine bottle pendants fitted with filament bulbs.

Of course, the re-use of wine elements in lighting is not limited to just the bottles...
The juxtaposition of tear-drop crystals dangling beneath a rustic wine barrel canopy is stunning in Tyler Florence's kitchen shop

We got a bit creative and used the wine barrel straps and twinkling white lights to create these inexpensive, sparkling spheres.

At Harvest, we've got the framework to help you create your own unique wine bottle chandelier.

Ours comes pre-wired and ready to hang, and it is so reasonably priced at just $185.00! (less 20% during our Summer Sale!)
So, cheers to you! ...and drink up!
These chandeliers aren't going to fill themselves! :)

Fun, Alternative Chandelier

These awesome orbs will soon grace the stores with their presence. This little DIY chandelier alternative received tons of praise in our Old Lumber showroom, and we can't wait to share the idea with all of you at Harvest. The crafty fixture is made from recycled wine barrel straps, bolted together to form a sphere and wrapped in twinkling lights to create a one-of-a-kind chandelier!
These pieces will be available for sale through Harvest while we have them in stock. They would make a charming accent above your outdoor dining area this summer!

Recycling, Every Step of the Way!

I love this inventive way of re-using old yard-sticks. This creative crafter clad the front of each stair riser with collected rulers to create a one-of-a-kind staircase.
