Re-purposed Lighting

At Harvest, we are lucky enough to have a resident lamp builder to supply us with one-of-a-kind fixtures made from re-purposed items. Our shop owner, Karsten, is a master lighting craftsman, and has fashioned lamps from old surveying tri-pods, vintage spools, reclaimed lumber, antique pottery and the like. We are always inspired by creative craftspeople throughout the country and wanted to share some unique fixtures from a company called Conant Metal and Light in Burlington, Vermont. Keep up the good work guys!

Great Summer Cocktail Recipe

Just like Harvest, this refreshing summer cocktail has the perfect blend of classic flavor and earthy accents, all with a fresh new kick!

Cucumber Lemonade Chiller (serves 4)

ingredients:

3 large cucumbers
1 tablespoon chopped, fresh rosemary
4 rosemary sprigs for garnish
1 cup water
6 oz. (3/4 cup) gin
1/2 cup lemon juice
3 tablespoons sugar

preparation:

Cut 12 thin slices of cucumber for garnish
Peel and chop the rest of the cucumber, transfer to a food processor, add rosemary and puree. Pour the puree over a fine-mesh strainer set over a medium bowl or large measuring cup. press on the solids to extract all the juice. Add water, gin, lemon juice, and sugar to the cucmber mixture; stir until the sugar is dissolved. Divide among 4 ice-filled glasses. Garnish glasses with cucumber slices and rosemary sprigs.
ENJOY!

School's Out For Summer!!!

I'll never forget how we celebrated the beginning of summer at my house. Early in the morning of the last day of school, my Dad would shock us out of bed by blasting Alice Cooper's "School's Out For Summer" on all speakers throughout the house. We'd jump out of bed and air-guitar our way down the hall to the living room to rock out in celebration with the whole family!
