Client Inspiration: Another Gorgeous Old Lumber Dining Room!

One of our clients was kind enough to send pictures of her gorgeous, new dining furniture from Harvest's Old Lumber Collection.

She writes:
"Hi, Kathleen. Here are a few shots of our new extension table, bench, and side chairs which were delivered yesterday. They are lovely, and look wonderful in my kitchen. The finish, legs, and dimensions on the table and chairs are perfect, and I love the shape and scale of the bench...I adore the furniture and Pablo's workmanship. Thanks again for all your help."   Regards—Wendy G.

Introducing...The Cricket Table

The latest addition to our Old Lumber furniture collection is the Cricket Table. This historical design can be recognized by its characteristic round top over three leg base. Available in custom sizes and a variety of finish options, this table is the perfect bedside accent or armchair perch.
Old Lumber Cricket Table

A little history on this design...
The cricket table was originally introduced during the Jacobean period, (1600-1688). Jacobean furniture inspired many early American styles. Its massive, sturdy characteristics and simple construction methods have been replicated for centuries.

Old Lumber Showroom in Las Vegas

I recently had the privilege of designing the Las Vegas showroom for our favorite vendor, Old Lumber!

It was so much fun to create unique vignettes to showcase this incredible collection of reclaimed wood furniture. To help tell the story of the Old Lumber collection, we enhanced each vignette with salvaged and vintage goods. Old windows and doors became interior backdrops, while vintage books and rusty, old toolboxes lined the shelves. We made light fixtures from old wine barrel straps and sculptural driftwood, we re-purposed old frames as chalkboard signage, and we softened the whole look with burlap and grain sack pillows atop natural, linen sofas. Many of our traditional "Harvest" signatures could be found throughout the casually elegant space.

We enjoyed a fantastic response to our design and had such a wonderful time sharing this amazing resource with retailers from around the world.

Here are some of my favorite highlights...

I can't wait to integrate these fabulous new looks into the Harvest stores!

Island Fever

I am loving this white-wash, reclaimed wood kitchen island! Totally farmhouse chic!

This reclaimed wood, grey-wash island surrounded by industrial stools is so very current, but will withstand the test of time.

Our Old Lumber company can build casegoods like these in any size and configuration. Visit our stores to learn more about our custom creations.

Rustic Tables

We love working with our Old Lumber company, and frequently find inspiration for new designs in the pages of some of the greatest home magazines around (see magazine images above). If you ever discover an inspiring design that you'd like to share with us, please bring it in. We may even be able to have a table custom made for you in your desired style.

My wax, Briwax!

Many of our customers inquire about the best way to treat and care for their Old Lumber products. We proudly recommend Briwax, (rhymes with "my wax"). This product, developed in 1860, has withstood the test of time and remains our preferred choice for cleaning, polishing and protecting your reclaimed lumber furnishings.
The Briwax company offers several wood finishing and touch-up products. At Harvest we carry the original wax in 3 colors for the touch-up and maintenance of our Old Lumber furniture.
I have recently discovered the Briwax Blog, full of helpful hints, new product information, and great woodworking ideas. Be sure to check it out!
If you're wondering how Briwax really works, feel free to come by the store and ask one of our associates for a quick demonstration. We'll be happy to show you!

New Designs in Dining

We're thrilled to introduce the latest addition to our Old Lumber Collection. Like all other pieces in the collection, this new Barrel Leg Table is handcrafted from 80-100 year old reclaimed timber, salvaged from old barns and buildings torn down across the U.S.
The design is an absolute classic and looks fantastic when paired with a rustic bench, upholstered dining chairs, classic ladderback wood chairs, even leather! The wax only finish reveals the natural character and history of the material, and will only get better with age. You must visit our Menlo Park Store for a closer look!
