Probably won't be blogging much this week. I'm taking a few days off to enjoy this little slice of Hawaiian paradise!

Sap Buckets!!!
Come into our Burlingame store to discover these eye-catching vintage vessels. Once used as sap-buckets, these old containers have been refinished in fabulous country colors to add cheer to your home. They even have their original holes on the side for mounting directly on the wall, or to a tree for outdoor occasions.
I think they make a great vase for displaying late-summer floral like sunflowers, shown above.

Recycling, Every Step of the Way!
I love this inventive way of re-using old yard-sticks. This creative crafter clad the front of each stair riser with collected rulers to create a one-of-a-kind staircase.

Charming Chalkboards
These artists have found new ways to re-purpose found objects like old doors, window casings, and picture frames as charming chalkboards. What a clever way to add whimsy to an office space, feature a dinner menu, recognize a birthday, or entice party-goers to join you for cocktails!

The Beauty of California Living Can Be Found at the Farmer's Market!
I wanted to take this opportunity to feature the gorgeous photography of my humble and extremely talented sister, Blythe. We've always shared an appreciation for the beauty and color of seasonal produce at local farmer's markets. Blythe's ability to recognize beauty in simple things is exhibited in her stunning photographs.
I hope these images will inspire you to take advantage of our local bounty at two of the Peninsula's most fantastic farmer's markets, (just around the corner from our stores in Menlo Park and Burlingame!)

We have been long-time fans of unique, old crates here at Harvest. We are always integrating them into our displays to add depth and character. We typically have a good supply of collected originals to choose from. I've been inspired by some of these great crate ideas, and wanted to share them with you all.

Trend Alert: Industrial Pendants
Industrial Pendant lighting is everywhere!
Many companies are making their own, while others are sourcing from flea-markets, salvage yards and the like to create original fixtures. These lights are such a hip and functional way to celebrate the re-use trend in home decor. We have been integrating more and more here at Harvest, and we can certainly help you source some genuine one-of-a-kinds for your home.
I love to display these unique fixtures above a great big kitchen island or in a workshop/study.
